Homemade Naan Bread

This homemade naan bread is soft, fluffy, and made with simple ingredients you likely already have on hand. Cooked on the stovetop and finished with butter, it’s the perfect homemade bread for scooping, dipping, and serving alongside your favorite meals. We love these homemade naan’s alongside my homemade coconut chicken curry. We also enjoy it with Greek bowls and hummus.

Ingredients you’ll need for Naan Bread:

  • active dry yeast
  • sugar
  • water
  • all-purpose flour
  • Greek yogurt
  • olive oil
  • salt

Tips for making homemade Naan Bread:

  1. Allow the yeast to bloom. Make sure the water is warm enough to activate the yeast. This will be between 105-110 degrees.
  2. Let rest in a warm place for it’s first rise. This will help the dough to become more fluffy, giving it that classic naan bread flavor & texture.
  3. Brush with a garlic butter. What truly pairs the best with the flavor of the bread itself, is a warm glossy garlic butter brushed on while freshly cooked. Melting into every crevice.
  4. Use a quality olive oil. The rich flavor adds depth to the naan bread, and the moisture of a quality oil will help it keep from drying out.

Dishes that pair well with Naan Bread:

  • Coconut Chicken Curry
  • Greek Chicken Bowls
  • Lamb or Beef Kofta
  • Butter Chicken
  • Chicken Marsala
  • Falafel with hummus and cucumber salad
